Friedrich Fröbel was a German educator, and inventor of the “kindergarden” concept.  He was a Pestalozzi student who laid the foundation for a modern education based on the recognition that children have unique needs and abilities. He also developed the educational toys known as "Fröbelgaben"(the Froebel Gifts).  Besides, he made the first construction set system for children. In addition, he introduced the concept of “Freiarbeiten” (free work) in pedagogy.  Friedrich Fröbel taught to recognise the importance of activity in child's learning. He worked to improve the quality of early childhood education.

Froebel said:  "Children are like little flowers: they are diverse and need care, but each one is also beautiful in solitude and glorious when seen in community with their peers." I like this phrase because each child is different and as educators, we must always keep it in mind, so that children learn at their   their own needs.

Okay, that's it for today. Good bye.

  1. Hi Anahi! how interesting, I really didn't know the genesis of the "kendergarden" concept. A curious fact is that, at least in Chile, the social relationships that occur within the "kindergartens" and schools tend to be community relations in terms of Ferdinand Tönnies.

  2. Hi Anahi! I think the Germans have been forerunners in different areas in many disciplines, they are very well known for their contributions! The phrase you selected is great, much of it has been lost with the pandemic :(
